Rajkot Footwear Trader Allegedly Cheated Of Rs 5.7 Lakh In Vietnam Import Deal

Rajkot: A footwear trader from Rajkot has allegedly lost ₹5.7 lakh in a suspected import fraud after a firm promised to supply 2,500 pairs of footwear from Vietnam at discounted prices but failed to deliver the order or return the money.

The case has been registered at the Rajkot City Cybercrime police station against JTIT Service, individuals associated with the firm, the holder and user of a bank account allegedly linked to the transactions, and others who may emerge during the investigation. The complaint invokes Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.

According to the complaint, the trader, identified as Nita Chauhan, came across an Instagram advertisement for account-management services on May 14, 2025. She subsequently approached JTIT Service, whose representative, identified as Mohit, began handling her Amazon and Flipkart accounts.

During their interactions, Mohit allegedly offered to arrange ready-made footwear from Vietnam at lower prices. He reportedly quoted a minimum order value of ₹5 lakh and asked for an advance payment covering half the amount.

Chauhan agreed to purchase 2,500 pairs of different footwear varieties. She was provided with bank details for an account held in the name of Jayashree Traders at IDFC First Bank. Transaction records cited in the complaint indicate that she transferred a total of ₹5.7 lakh through five instalments.

However, the promised consignment never arrived. Chauhan alleged that the people involved repeatedly gave excuses before eventually becoming unresponsive to her calls and messages.

Suspecting fraud, she contacted the cybercrime helpline at 1930. The complaint further states that after accounts linked to JTIT Service and Jayashree Traders were frozen, the individuals concerned contacted her and promised a refund. Hoping to recover her money, Chauhan initially held back from pursuing the matter further.

The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations are yet to be established.
