New Delhi: Delhi Police has transferred a second case against jailed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to the Crime Branch, bringing both cases against the leaders under the specialised unit’s investigation, according to reports.
The move follows the transfer of another case on Monday concerning their alleged entry into the Jantar Mantar area, which has been denotified as an authorised protest site.
According to police, Das, Ranka, Ajinkya Shinde and 11 other CJP members allegedly entered the area through private premises on Oct. 13. Police intervened, detained all 14 members and registered two FIRs in connection with the incident.
The group allegedly scaled a locked gate and crossed police barricades while attempting to unfurl the national flag. Das and Ranka were also accused of raising slogans demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
On Oct. 14, Das and Ranka were sent to five days of judicial custody by a Special Executive Magistrate for allegedly breaching peace bonds they had signed on Oct. 10. Their custody was extended by two days on Monday.
Meanwhile, CJP founder and convenor Abhijeet Dipke said in a video message posted on X that the jailed leaders were central to the party’s movement.

Dipke also announced that the party would suspend its protests until Diwali, urging supporters to spend time with their families.
The transfer of the cases comes amid continued scrutiny of the party’s protests and the police action against its leadership.
