New Delhi: A routine cleanliness drive in Central Delhi led to an unusual discovery after a scrap dealer reported finding a skeleton-like object among discarded material, prompting police to investigate whether it was human remains or an educational model.
The object was noticed while the clean-up operation was underway and was subsequently brought to the attention of the Delhi Police. The scrap dealer told investigators that he had purchased the material from a school around a month ago and that a box containing the skeleton-like object had been included in the scrap.
Police are examining the possibility that the material was biological waste retained by the school for educational or sampling purposes. However, officials have stressed that there is no confirmation at this stage that the object is an actual human skeleton.
Investigators are questioning the scrap dealer and the school administration to establish where the object originated, how it was disposed of and whether it was being used as an educational specimen.
Officials are also verifying the nature of the object before drawing any conclusions. Police said the possibility that it is a dummy or teaching model has not been ruled out.
The incident has therefore remained at the verification stage, with authorities yet to establish that any human remains were involved. Further investigation is underway.
