Trump Alleges Iran Facing ‘Epic’ Humanitarian Crisis, Steps Up Pressure on Tehran

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday alleged that Iran was undergoing a severe financial and humanitarian crisis, claiming that parts of the country’s military were not being paid and accusing authorities of killing protesters.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the situation in Iran had reached a critical level and called for immediate action.

“The failing Islamic Republic of Iran is not paying large segments of their military, while at the same time killing protesters, even when they are not protesting, at levels not seen before,” Trump said.

He described the situation as a humanitarian crisis of “epic proportions” and added that it “must be stopped, NOW”.

The US President had on Monday also claimed that Iran was “completely collapsing” as Washington intensified economic pressure on Tehran.

The remarks came as the Trump administration moved to further tighten financial restrictions on Iran. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the launch of “Operation Economic Outcast” against Tehran following Trump’s latest statement.
