US President Donald Trump has publicly backed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 elections, offering support to the embattled leader after months without a clear endorsement.
In a social media post, Trump described Netanyahu as “a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Netanyahu thanked Trump for his support, saying, “Together we will complete the mission!” His Likud Party also shared a video featuring the two leaders.
President Trump, my friend Donald – thank you for your extraordinary endorsement. Israel has never had a greater friend in the White House. Together we will never let Iran’s regime get nuclear weapons. Thank you for your clarity, courage and unwavering support.

The election will be Israel’s first national vote since Hamas attacked the country on October 7, 2023. However, the impact of Trump’s endorsement on the closely contested race remains uncertain, as some Israelis have expressed disappointment over the outcome of the Iran war and the proposed ceasefire.
Trump also warned that he could continue military action against Iran, saying he might reconsider if Netanyahu loses. The two leaders, once closely aligned, have disagreed over attacks on Iranian energy facilities, fighting involving Hezbollah in Lebanon and efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
Trump has previously endorsed Netanyahu and urged Israeli President Isaac Herzog to pardon him in a corruption case. His latest intervention comes as the Israeli leader seeks another term amid regional tensions and disagreements over the direction of the conflict.
