NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.
Running a keyword search about the mosque near Kolkata airport, we found reports stating that the 136-year-old Gauripur Jama Masjid, also known as the Bankra Mosque, is located close to the airport’s secondary runway.
The mosque has been at the centre of discussions over aviation safety and the expansion of airport infrastructure. Friday prayers at the mosque were suspended in July 2026, while discussions regarding its possible relocation were underway.
However, we could not find any credible report stating that the mosque had been demolished.
We then conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. The search led us to a Facebook post by ChdNews24, dated September 20, carrying the same footage.

According to the post, the video was from Pabna district in Bangladesh and showed a mob vandalising the house of a man accused in a murder case.
Taking a cue from this, we conducted a further keyword search and found reports by Bangladeshi news outlets, including The Daily Star, Jamuna TV and Prothom Alo, about the incident.

According to these reports, a 10-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Pabna district. Police subsequently arrested two men, identified as Mustafa Kamal and Mohammad Yasin, in connection with the case.
The incident triggered outrage among local residents, following which a mob vandalised Kamal’s house for two consecutive days. None of the reports identified the structure seen in the viral video as a mosque.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show that Gauripur Jama Masjid near Kolkata airport was demolished to make way for a Ram temple, is false.
