NM VERIFIED

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.

The NM team initiated its verification by taking keyframes from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. The search led us to an October 1, 2024, report by ABP News featuring the same footage. The report stated that Paswan made the remarks during a felicitation programme organised by the LJP’s SC-ST cell at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna.

Further searches found a report by Jagran published in September 2024, which also carried the same statement. According to the report, Paswan had said that if he felt the Constitution or reservation rights were being violated, he would not hesitate to resign, referring to his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s resignation.

We also found Paswan’s statements regarding the recent Jamui incident. In a statement shared by ANI on September 25, 2026, he expressed concern over such incidents and called for accountability and appropriate action. These remarks are separate from the viral resignation video.

Hence, the viral video of Chirag Paswan talking about resigning as Union Minister is from 2024 and is being shared with a misleading connection to the recent Jamui incident.
