Verified: Old Video Of Abhijeet Dipke Slapped In Jaipur Falsely Linked To Mumbai Protest

A video showing Abhijeet Dipke being surrounded by people, with some of them appearing to slap and assault him, is being widely circulated on social media. Users sharing the video claim that the incident took place during the CJP’s October 2, 2026, protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, where the party had demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

NM VERIFIED

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.

The NM team initiated its verification by conducting a keyword search using terms related to the viral claim, including “Abhijeet Dipke slapped Mumbai protest”. However, we could not find any credible news report confirming that Dipke was assaulted during the October 2 protest at Shivaji Park.

We then conducted a reverse image search by extracting key frames from the viral video. The search led us to reports published in June 2026 by India Today and NDTV, as well as a video published on The Tribune YouTube channel, all showing the same incident involving Dipke.

An India Today report dated June 15, 2026, states that Dipke was allegedly slapped by some youths while he was being carried on the shoulders of his supporters at a protest in Jaipur’s Shaheed Smarak. The protest was organised over alleged examination irregularities, including the NEET paper leak, as well as unemployment. India Today reported that police detained two youths in connection with the incident.

NDTV reported that six people were detained and taken to Vidhayakpuri police station for questioning. Police said the identities and motives of those involved were being established and that an investigation had been launched.

The incident was therefore clearly reported months before the October 2 Mumbai protest. The available reports also show that the viral footage corresponds to the Jaipur incident, where Dipke was attacked while arriving at the protest site.

Hence, it is evident that the viral video is old and unrelated to CJP’s Mumbai protest.
