NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile verified the claim and found that the video is AI-generated.
The NM team initiated its verification by conducting a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. However, we could not find the identical video uploaded by any credible media organisation.
Further analysis revealed several inconsistencies in the video, including the unusually dramatic depiction of the eruption, the unnatural flow of lava, the manner in which the footage was recorded, and the relatively calm reactions and voices of the people present.
To further confirm the video’s authenticity, we analysed it using Hive Moderation, an AI detection tool. The analysis indicated that the video is AI-generated.

Hence, it is evident that the viral video is AI-generated and does not show a real volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
