NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.
The NM team initiated its verification and searched for reports related to the viral video and the claimed match using relevant keywords. However, we could not find the video in any credible news report or official cricket source.
The claim also raised questions because New Zealand’s women’s cricket team was not playing in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup. A closer look at the viral video revealed several inconsistencies. The movement of the Indian player while flipping to take the catch appears unnatural and artificial. The scoreboard shown in the video also contains irregularities and does not appear to represent an authentic match broadcast.
To further verify the video, the NM team analysed it using Hive Moderation, an AI detection tool.
Hence, it is evident that the viral video purportedly showing an Indian women’s cricketer taking an incredible catch is AI-generated and is being circulated with a false claim.
