NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.
The NM team initiated its verification by conducting a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. The search led us to a video posted by India Today on its official X account on June 3, 2026.
A four-storey residential building collapsed in Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area on Wednesday evening, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Fortunately, residents had evacuated the structure after cracks began appearing earlier in the day, preventing any casualties.

The caption accompanying the post said a four-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area on the evening of June 3.
NDTV India also uploaded the same video to YouTube on June 4, 2026, with the description identifying the incident as the collapse of a four-storey building in Karawal Nagar, Delhi.
Further, the NM team found reports by Times Now and ETV Bharat published on June 4, 2026, carrying the same visuals and details. The reports stated that a four-storey building in Prakash Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Northeast Delhi, collapsed on the evening of June 3 after cracks developed in the structure. The cracks reportedly appeared after excavation work was carried out near the building for drain construction and repair. The building had already been evacuated after it began tilting, and no casualties were reported in the incident. ETV Bharat also quoted Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Ahlawat, who confirmed that the building was evacuated after cracks appeared and subsequently collapsed.
Hence, it is evident that the viral video being shared as footage of the Satya Niketan building collapse is misleading. The video is actually from the collapse of a four-storey building in Karawal Nagar, Delhi, in June 2026.
